New CEO for Oversight Trust

The Oversight Trust has appointed Mike Barber as its new Chief Executive Officer, effective from 2 March 2026. He takes the reins from outgoing CEO Alastair Ballantyne, who is retiring.

Mike was previously a senior partner at Deloitte, where he led the formation and growth of their Sustainability Advisory practice. He also served for nine years on the Audit and Risk Committee of the Royal National Institute of Blind People, the latter half as Chair. He brings extensive leadership experience across governance, risk, and organisational transformation, with a strong track record of guiding complex, purpose-driven organisations through periods of change and growth. His appointment marks an important step for the Oversight Trust as it continues to strengthen its role in promoting high standards of accountability and stewardship.

The Chair of the Oversight Trust, Vaughan Lindsay, says: “Mike’s depth of experience, values-led leadership, and clear strategic focus make him exceptionally well suited to lead the organisation into its next phase. We are excited by his appointment and are confident he will build on the Trust’s strong foundations and support its long-term mission. We also want to pay tribute to Alastair Ballantyne who has been instrumental in setting up, developing and steering the Trust and wish him all the best in his retirement at the end of June.”

Commenting on his appointment, Mike Barber adds: “The Oversight Trust plays a vital role in upholding confidence, integrity, and effective governance. I look forward to working with the Board, partners, and stakeholders to advance the Trust’s purpose and ensure it continues to deliver meaningful impact.”
