Access – The Foundation for Social Investment has been successful in filling a gap in the social investment market according to an independent four-yearly review. The review highlights Access’ success in building and sustaining the social investment market, strengthening intermediaries, developing place-based approaches, and improving the resilience of community organisations.
Looking ahead, the review sets out three key challenges for the social investor:
· defining long-term sustainability for a system that still requires subsidy
· mobilising additional capital beyond dormant assets
· and managing the risks of leadership and governance as it takes on an expanded, sector-shaping role
