Govt announces Dormant Assets funding to boost youth opportunities

The Culture Secretary, Lisa Nandy, has announced that £100 million from the next tranche of dormant assets funding will be used to deliver youth outcomes between 2024 and 2028, supporting the provision of services, facilities and opportunities for young people across the country.

The plans aim to create a new National Youth Strategy by young people, for young people, as part of the government’s mission to improve opportunity.

Barry Fletcher, CEO at Youth Futures Foundation, says:"Youth Futures welcomes the announcement from the DCMS Secretary of State on a new National Youth Strategy and a further £100 million investment from the Dormant Assets Scheme to be dedicated to ‘youth outcomes."We are pleased to see the Government’s plan to create a National Youth Strategy and the ambition to build a blueprint across Government and beyond for young people’s outcomes."

Seb Elsworth, chief executive of Access – The Foundation for Social Investment, told Third Sector magazine that the funding would help community organisations, particularly those in more deprived areas, to access the support and finance they needed to grow.
